ATP Mubadala Citi Open Seeding
With only 16 players ranked so far, here’s how the men are seeded ahead of the 2023 Mubadala DC Citi Open;
- 1. Taylor Fritz, 2. Frances Tiafoe, 3. Félix Auger-Aliassime, 4. Hubert Hurkacz, 5. Grigor Dimitrov, 6. Alexander Bublik, 7. Adrian Mannarino, 8. Sebastian Korda
- 9. Dan Evans, 10. Yoshihito Nishioka, 11. Christopher Eubanks, 12. Tallon Griekspoor, 13. Ugo Humbert, 14. Ben Shelton, 15. Andy Murray, 16. J. J. Wolf
- The following players have gained entry into the tournament’s Men’s singles draw as wildcards: Kevin Anderson, Gaël Monfils, Kei Nishikori, Ben Shelton, and lastly, Lloyd Harris got in via protected ranking.
- Also, Bjorn Fratangelo, Bradley Klahn, Shintaro Mochizuki, Kiranpal Pannu, Shang Juncheng, and Zachary Svajda all gained entry via the qualification draw.;
WTA Silicon Valley Classic Seeding
Only eight WTA players have been ranked in the upcoming Mubadala Citi Open, so this is how the women are seeded ahead of the tournament.
- 1. Jessica Pegula, 2. Caroline Garcia, 3. Coco Gauff, 4. Maria Sakkari, 5. Daria Kasatkina. 6. Belinda Bencic, 7. Madison Keys, 8. Liudmila Samsonova
- Meanwhile, Bianca Andreescu, Danielle Collins, Sofia Kenin, and Elina Svitolina gained entry into the tournament as wildcards. Jennifer Brady gained entry as a protected ranking, on the other hand.

Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic Draw Format
For the Men’s singles competition, the draw consists of 32 players.
The top eight seeded players are placed in specific positions in the draw to ensure they wouldn’t meet until later rounds. Players with higher rankings are excluded from the round of 64 as they receive a BYE.;
Reigning Champions
- In the Men’s singles category, Nick Kyrigos is the reigning champion as he defeated Yoshihito Nishioka 6-4, 6-3 in the finals in 2022 to claim the then-called Washington Open crown. Unfortunately, the Australian won’t participate in the tournament this year due to injury.;
- In the Women’s singles category, Liudmila Samsonova is the reigning champion. To win the tournament, she defeated Estonia Kaia Kanepi in three sets (4–6, 6–3, 6–3) in the 2022 WTA Washington Open finale. She’s currently seeded eighth in this year’s edition of the tournament.;
Mubadala Citi DC Open Favorites
Men’s Singles
- For the men’s singles, the fact that the reigning champion won’t be participating in this tournament makes it open to all. Taylor Fritz is the highest-ranked player in the competition this year; however, his failure to make it past the round of sixteen every time he participated in the tournament makes him a difficult choice. This is why Frances Tiafoe makes perfect sense.;
- The Frenchman just recently made his first-ever appearance in the top 10 in the rankings. He is 14-5 on hard surfaces and 30-14 overall. He advanced to the quarterfinals in Washington, DC, last year, and this will be his first competition since Wimbledon. This year, Tiafoe has won two championships in Houston and Stuttgart. With the caliber of players participating in this tournament, Tiafoe has a legit claim to win it all with odds from GGBet – 4.5.
Women’s Singles
- It seems near impossible for the women’s singles that Liudmila Samsonova will successfully defend her title. The most dangerous threat to that is Jessica Pegula, who is fourth in the WTA rankings and has a 35-12 record, including 19-6 on hard. She is currently the highest-ranked American player in the tournament, and her impressive record on hard surfaces makes her the forerunner for the 2023 Citi DC Open. The odds for her win from bookmaker GGBet is 3.00.
Mubadala Citi DC Open Underdogs
- For the men’s singles, Sebastian Korda is the underdog tipped to upset the balance. The 28th-ranked Korda hasn’t competed since Wimbledon. This year, the 23-year-old is 12-8 overall and 8-2 on hard courts. He made it to the DC quarter-finals last year, and he’s backed to make a better run this year.
- For the women’s singles, it has to be Coco Gauff. The teenage sensation has the second-best record on hard surfaces (15-5) among the 2023 WTA Silicon Valley Classic tournament participants. She has a 27-12 season record and won a championship in Auckland at the start of the year. She is unquestionably a dark horse in this race.
The merging of the Washington Open and the Mubadala Silicon Valley tournament to form the Mubadala Citi DC Open is one to be excited about, so make sure you get all the action by following FBR for more tennis news and updates.
