CS:GO IEM Katowice 2024 predictions

Forecasting the results and bets of a CS2 tournament is never easy, and this time is no different. With a flurry of changes in team rosters over the past few months, there are still certain teams that will enter the tournament as the ones to beat.

Favorites of Counter-Strike IEM Katowice

Team Vitality and FaZe Clan stand out in Counter-Strike 2, emerging as frontrunners as IEM Katowice approaches. FaZe clinched victories in IEM Sydney, the Thunderpick World Championship, and the CS2 Asia Championship last autumn. Meanwhile, Team Vitality triumphed over FaZe in the grand finals of the Blast Fall Final and World Final. Their rivalry extends to IEM Sydney, where FaZe only faced defeats against Vitality and GamerLegion. Anticipating another grand showdown at IEM Katowice, FaZe, the 2022 champions, faces off against Team Vitality, aiming for its inaugural title in Katowice.

Contenders

G2 Esports and NAVI emerge as strong contenders to challenge FaZe and/or Vitality in IEM Katowice. G2, the reigning champions, underwent changes with Nemanja “nexa” Isaković replacing Justin “jks” Savage. Despite a recent performance dip, G2, led by Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, remains a formidable team with a championship history. NAVI, in exceptional form, secured wins against G2 in the Blast Spring Groups and displayed dominance in the Spring Groups and Copenhagen Major European RMR Qualifier. While facing challenges from Vitality, NAVI, even with Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev temporarily stepping away, has become a top CS2 team since the addition of Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov.

Dark horses

Two noteworthy teams from the play-in squads are Virtus.pro and Astralis. Virtus.pro achieved a perfect 3-0 record at Blast Spring Groups, with wins over BIG and Cloud9, and a 3-1 performance in the Copenhagen Major European RMR Qualifier. They have been active since last fall, claiming victories at Dreamhack Atlanta and the Roobet Cup. Astralis, ranked higher than their No. 23 position, is the only team to beat Team Vitality since October. They went 3-1 in both the Spring Groups and the Copenhagen Major European RMR Qualifier, showing strong performances since adding Martin “stavn” Lund and Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard in November, both familiar faces from Heroic’s Katowice final last year.
